Since 2018, Akuafo Nketewa has partnered with Guinness Ghana Brewery PLC (GGBPLC) to strengthen the sorghum value chain. Our efforts include:
* Farmer Support: We maintain an up-to-date farmer database and offer training on good agronomic practices.
* Quality Inputs: We supply improved sorghum seeds, agrochemicals, and fertilizers.
* Quality Assurance: We enforce rigorous quality control measures, including modern harvesting techniques, proper drying methods, and adequate storage solutions.
* Market Assurance: With GGBPLC's active support, farmers benefit from a guaranteed market with competitive pricing and an awards system that promotes best practices.
Impact:
This project has modernized smallholder farming, ensured the sustainability of the sorghum value chain, and improved the incomes of our farmers. Additionally, it has enhanced sorghum supply to GGBPLC, contributing to Ghana's currency stability by achieving 100% self-sufficiency in sorghum production and eliminating the need for foreign currency expenditure on raw materials for brewing.
